Reflection on today’s Gospel (Mk 9:38-43, 45, 47-48) – “Cut off your hand!” Today’s Gospel contains serious warnings. Jesus says that the causes of sin must be completely eliminated.
Sometimes in our modern times we are more afraid of fat, cholesterol or second-hand smoke than of hell.
Today’s gospel doesn’t tell us to literally mutilate ourselves, but to cut out sin and stay strictly away from what leads us to sin.
Every obstacle between us and God must be removed and cast away.
Today, let us ask for the grace to take these Gospel warnings to heart.
