Christ is Risen, Alleluia, Alleluia !

Dear brothers and sisters, happy Easter to you all!
Today, millions of Christians around the world will be celebrating Easter. At the heart of this festival are the astonishing words we hear in the Gospel we heard; “

Do not be afraid! I know that you are seeking Jesus the crucified. He is not here, for he has been raised just as he said” Matthew 28:6.

words changed the course of history, beginning with a small group of women and men who had
lived alongside Jesus, and spreading out to the corners of the world. The Resurrection of Jesus comes after our 40-day observance of Lent, with its fasting and self-reflection, and our journey through the events and horrors of Holy Week.

In the early Church, Christians would greet each other on Easter Sunday morning not by saying “Happy Easter” but with the acclamation: “Christ is risen, Alleluia!” to which the other immediately responds; “Truly he is risen! Alleluia! He has appeared to Simon, Alleluia”. As if to say if he has appeared to Simon after all he did in betraying Jesus then there is hope for us! That is the Good News of this night, He is Truly Risen and Victorious over our sin and death. Alleluia, Alleluia!
